Imagine two small figures sitting side by side on a table.
One is a modern action figure.
You know its name, its story, even who designed the costume, because the box, the movie, and the maker’s notes tell you. The other is barely as tall as your thumb: stone or clay, a person-shape with worn spots and maybe a missing foot. No label from the carver. No instruction book. Same size. Same “person shape. ” Completely different amounts of proof. If both look like people, why can we prove one story and not the other?
And how should a careful viewer talk about the ancient one without inventing a tale just because it sounds exciting?
